DEFINITION

Classification: 382/192

Feature counting:

(under subclass 190) Subject matter in which characteristics are extracted from a pattern* by any of the following methods: (a) Counting lines or points of intersection between the pattern* and either a generally two-dimensional raster or any array of scanning elements to derive count values that may be used either alone or in combination with other feature data to identify the pattern*; (b) computing, from a digital image of the pattern*, the relative frequency of occurrence of specific pattern*s in the image; or (c) counting any other property of the pattern*s to be recognized in order to facilitate recognition.
