333  DF  OPTICAL AMPLIFIER {11}
336.~ Bistable

DEFINITION

Classification: 359/336

Bistable:

(under subclass 333) Subject matter wherein a two level output is produced (i.e., an amplified output or no output at all) dependent upon the specific characteristic (e.g., amplitude or frequency) of the input light beam that the amplifier is designed to amplify.

(1) Note. The specific type of amplifier (i.e., material type, cavity structure, resonant cavity length, leachable material, etc.) determines which input signal characteristic will produce an amplified output. All other inputs will result in a zero output.
