DEFLECTION USING A MOVING ELEMENT OR MEDIUM (OFFSETTING OR CHANGING AT LEAST A PORTION OF THE BEAM):

(under the class definition) Subject matter comprising structure for offsetting or changing the direction of at least a portion of the incident light by moving a light reflecting or transmitting element or medium into or out of the light beam or by changing the position of a reflecting or transmitting element or medium in the light beam.

(1) Note. A prism may be employed for refracting or reflecting light. Prism reflections are considered to be internal reflections; that is, the light is inside the prism body before and immediately after reflection. Light beam deflection by a movable prism is included in this subclass.

(2) Note. Lenses or curved surface mirrors movable for focusing are classified elsewhere in this class.
