195.~.~ With optical waveguide

DEFINITION

Classification: 359/195

With optical waveguide:

(under subclass 189) Subject matter which further includes one or more transparent elongated structures (e.g., rods, fibers, or pipes) which are used to transmit light waves from one point to another within the confines of their outer surface by means of internal reflections or modal transmission.

(1) Note. An optical waveguide requires total internal reflection.

(2) Note. The combination of an optical receiver with an optical waveguide as defined in Class 385 is classified in this subclass (see Search Class Note for Class 385).

SEE OR SEARCH THIS CLASS, SUBCLASS:

193, for an optical receiver in combination with an optics element as classified in Class 359.
