DEFINITION

Classification: 359/129

Prism:

(under subclass 127) Subject matter wherein a beam is coupled in or out of a waveguide to accomplish the desired multiplexing by one or more transparent bodies bounded in part by two plane surfaces which are angularly related (i.e., not parallel), at least one of these surfaces being internally reflecting or refracting to impinging incident light.

(1) Note. This subject matter includes the combination of a prism and wavelength division or frequency division optical communiction system (see Search Class Note for Class 385).
