DEFINITION

Duplex:

(under subclass 109) Subject matter wherein a single optical link between an optical transmitter and receiver permits simultaneous transmission and reception of plural optical signals in the same or opposite directions.

(1) Note. Full duplex allows the simultaneous transmission in either of two directions, but only one direction at a time.

(2) Note. Half duplex allows data transmission in either of two directions, but only one direction at a time.
