DEFINITION

Classification: 248/469

(under subclass 466) Subject matter including self supporting devices, usually having an upright standard, a pedestal or legs, which support the mirror or picture in a desired relation to a generally horizontal surface such as a table, floor or the ground, the device merely resting on the horizontal surface as opposed to being attached thereto.

(1) Note. The stand generally maintains the picture in a vertical position as by resting on the horizontal surface as opposed to the brackets in subclasses 475.1+ below which are secured to the surface.
