DEFINITION

Classification: 65/112

(under subclass 111) Processes in which the treating step includes heating the glass to a temperature sufficient to render it plastic, but insufficient to produce a significant plastic flow that would cause alteration of physical shape and size, combined with a step of (1) penetrating the plastic glass to effect at least a partial separation of the glass without reshaping flow of the glass, or (2) moving one part of the plastic glass relative to the other to cause failure by tension at the point of separation, usually by stretching or (3) penetrating the plastic glass to form a closed perimeter opening extending completely through the glass, or (4) cutting or perforating of hard glass combined with glass treating.
