(under subclass 260) Subject matter wherein low-frequency components of the image are attenuated or eliminated.
(1) Note. Generally, highpass filtering reduces overall contrast and average intensity as it sharpens edges and other sharp details.
(2) Note. Examples of highpass filters are the Laplacian,
Sobel, Roberts and Prewitt operators.
