DEFINITION

Classification: 337/62

(under subclass 52) Subject matter wherein the mechanical actuating means comprises structure whereby contact opening or closing results from a sliding or reciprocating motion in a single plane by the contact carrier. The contact carrier or actuating means is generally spring biased to open position and held closed by a latch under the influence of a bimetallic element, which upon heating releases the latch and allows the contact control means to move the contacts to open position under the influence of the spring means.
