(under subclass 76) Subject matter having means for actively bringing a state of balance between mechanical or electrical forces into existence.
(1) Note. This subclass includes, for example, potentiometers in which the potential of an unknown voltage is balanced against the potential of a standard cell.
(2) Note. The mere passive balancing that occurs in an instrument such as the D'Arsonval meter, where the spring restoring torque equals the rotor torque, is not the type of balancing which is the subject matter of this subclass. But
