(under subclass 476.7) Subject matter in which the guide is driven by a mechanism including (1) a first body having a marking or feature representing a curvilinear path along the first body, (2) a sensor sensing the marking or feature and connected to the guide so as to move in manner analogous to the guide, (3) a drive producing relative motion between the first body and the sensor, and (4) a servo mechanism controlled by output of the sensor that drives the guide and the sensor and positions the sensor so as to maintain it in a substantially constant relationship to a portion of the marking.
(1) Note. The movements of the sensor and guide need only be analogous, not exactly the same to meet this definition. The movements of the sensor and guide must be constrained such that the position of the sensor determines the position of the guide.
