(under the class definition) Plant which is a multicellular fleshy fungi of the class Basidiomycetes, characteristically having an umbrella-shaped cap borne on a stalk.
(1) Note. The entire cap and stalk of the mushroom are composed of hyphae. The above ground portion of the mushroom is the fruiting body.
