DEFINITION

Classification: 83/289

(under subclass 286) Device in which the detector includes a means responsive to light to energize an electrical circuit, and the detection of work is effected by a change in the quantity or quality of the light received by said means either directly (as by work's moving between said means and the source of said light), or indirectly (as by reflection from the work).

(1) Note. Examples of the means referred to above are vacuum tubes and other light-sensitive detectors.
