DEFINITION

(under subclass 385) Tools wherein the joint mechanism includes a pintle fixed to an element, which element is engaged by the operator to move said element and pintle relative to at least one of the handles.

(1) Note. The pintle is usually socketed in one handle and shiftable within a slot in the other handle.

(2) Note. The term "engaged" includes direct manipulation of the element of indirect movement as by a slide or cam.
