DEFINITION

Classification: 800/264

Breeding for altered fat, fatty oil, ester-type wax, or fatty acid composition:

(under subclass 260) Method wherein the stable or transient change produced in a plant or plant part results in a change in the absolute or relative amount of one or more of the fat, fatty oil, ester-type wax, or fatty acid compounds in the plant.

(1) Note. This subclass also provides for the case where a qualitative change to a fat, fatty oil, ester-type wax, or fatty acid is actually a decrease of that fat, fatty oil, ester-type wax or fatty acid and an increase of the resultant fat, fatty oil, ester-type wax, or fatty acid.
