DEFINITION

Classification: 75/511

With addition of gas:

(under subclass 510) Process wherein a gas is intentionally added to the molten metal that contains over 50 percent by weight Iron (Fe) while it is being treated by lifting under a vacuum.

(1) Note. The gas must be added intentionally, mere accidental leakage is ignored. The amount of gas added is restricted so that the pressure of gas over the molten metal remains significantly under one atmosphere.
