.~ Nonplanetary gearing differential type (e.g., gearless differentials)
DEFINITION
Classification: 74/650
(under subclass 640) Gearing, not of the planetary type, wherein a differential action is obtained through some mechanisms other than a planetary gearing, such as e.g., overrunning clutches acting between a driving member and a plurality of driven members, a fluid drive involving plural power paths combined with other gearing, etc. Such structures are commonly designated "gearless" differentials.
