DEFINITION

Classification: 606/227

Pull out or frangible:

(under subclass 224) Subject matter wherein the suture is affixed to, but is readily separable from the needle upon application of a prescribed tensile force whereby: (1) the tension upon the suture causes the suture to be dislodged from the holding portion of the needle; or (2) the tension upon the suture causes a weakened or reduced cross-sectional area of the suture, adjacent to the holding portion of the needle, to break so that the majority of the suture filament becomes disassociated from the needle.
