(under subclass 1.1) Compounds having the general formula ROR', wherein RO- is the carbohydrate residue moiety and R' is an organic radical.

(1) Note. Carbohydrate ethers can be made by subsituting an organic radical for the hydrogen atom of a portion of the hydroxyl groups of a carbohydrate.

(2) Note. The organic radical R' may also be a carbohydrate

moiety.
