(under subclass 548) Apparatus including means to form the transverse seam (a) by relatively rotating one portion of the tube with respect to a stationarily held adjacent second portion or (b) by relatively rotating two adjacent tube portions in opposite directions, the rotation being about the longitudinal axis of the tube whereby a coiled or convolved winding is produced forming a necked down section in the tube to segregate the package units.
