*  DD  SYNTHETIC RESINS (Class 520, Subclass 1) {23}
480  DF  .~ TREATING POLYMER CONTAINING MATERIAL OR TREATING A SOLID POLYMER OR A RESINIFIABLE INTERMEDIATE CONDENSATION PRODUCT {14}
501.~.~ With distilling or pressured reduction step to remove material, e.g., flashing, autorefrigeration, etc.

DEFINITION

Classification: 528/501

(under subclass 480) Processes wherein a polymer or polymer-containing material is exposed to a pressure decrease so as to effect a separation therein, or wherein a polymer or polymer-containing material is subjected to a distillation operation so as to effect a separation therein.

(1) Note. Included herein are processes of effecting a separation by cooling under a reduced pressure, or by partial vaporization by a sudden pressure reduction, such as by the introduction of a feed stream under pressure high enough to prevent ebullition into a zone of lesser pressure, which introduction results in the volatizing of at least a portion of the distilland.

503, for a process of vaporizing material under heat without any attempt to condense the volatized component.
