Ortho-hydroxybenzoic acid (i.e., salicylic acid) or derivative DOAI:

(under subclass 1) Subject matter wherein the organic active ingredient contains salicylic acid as shown in the first illustration, below, or a derivative thereof which contains the moiety, as shown in the second illustration, below, said derivative being other than another ring fused onto the benzoic acid moiety or the ortho-hydroxybenzoic acid salts of a bioactive organic compound. (1) Note. This subclass includes ring structures derived from the carboxy and hydroxyl moieties.

(2) Note. The ortho-hydroxybenzoic acid salts of organic compounds are excluded herefrom and are classified in the appropriate subclasses below based on the bioactive compound.
