DEFINITION

Classification: 502/79

Faujasite type (e.g., X or Y, etc.):

(under subclass 60) Composition in which a zeolite is characterized by having a silica to alumina ratio of about 2.5 to about 7 and a very open framework, comprising truncated octahedra (B cages) characteristic of sodalite linked by hexagonal prisms forming super cages, and a pore size of approximately 60 to 15 deg. A.

(1) Note. The type of zeolite is generally determined by X-ray diffraction and the patterns may be found in the literature cited in the notes to subclass 60. Faujasite type includes X, Y, Z 14 and H S.
