DEFINITION

Classification: 502/23

"Wet air combustion" oxidation of material submerged in liquid:

(under subclass 22) Process in which the catalyst or sorbent is subjected to dissolved oxygen under pressure and heat, below the critical temperature, such that autogenic oxidation is effected.

(1) Note. Generally undesired extraneous carbonaceous material is converted to water and carbon oxides.

(2) Note. The process is also known by several terms such as "flameless combustion", "submerged combustion", etc.
