(under subclass 840) Electrical connector wherein the hollow interior region formed by series of helically wound loops making up the elastic coil constitutes a resilient female socket which is particularly adapted to receive and resiliently grip an elongated male contact or the end of an elongated conductor; the longitudinal axis of the elongated male contact or conductor end and the axis about which the loops are helically wound are aligned just prior to reception of the male contact or conductor end within the female socket and are coincident whenever the male contact or conductor end and the female socket are finally joined.
