DEFINITION

Classification: 423/713

Isomorphic metal substitution:

(under subclass 700) Processes wherein a structural analogue of zeolite is formed by substituting one or more elements into a zeolite crystal, e.g., partial or complete replacement of aluminum by silicon to form a silicon polymorph such as silicalite.

(1) Note. This substitution may occur after or during zeolite synthesis.

(2) Note. Not included in this subclass is precipitation of an element on a surface of the zeolite such as by ion exchange processes.
