(under subclass 561.1) Products or processes wherein the compound includes associated sulfur in addition to the amount normally present in a sulfide.
(1) Note. For example, when additional sulfur is associated with sodium sulfide (Na2S) under certain conditions sodium polysulfide (Na2S5) is formed.
(2) Note. It should be noted that a sulfide which merely has a plurality of sulfur atoms therein is not necessarily a polysulfide, as in aluminum sulfide (A12[end subscrpt]S3). This compound has only the normal amount of sulfur to combine with the aluminum to form the aluminum sulfide.
