210  DF  MODIFYING OR REMOVING COMPONENT OF NORMALLY GASEOUS MIXTURE {11}
220  DF  .~ Carbon dioxide or hydrogen sulfide component {9}
224.~.~ By oxidizing or burning component

DEFINITION

Classification: 423/224

(under subclass 220) Processes in which the component is removed or changed by causing (1) it to combine with oxygen, or to produce a flame, or (2) the augmentation of the valence number of an ion or atom thereof as the result of the loss of negative charges as electrons thereby making it more electropositive.

(1) Note. Excluded from this subclass is a process in which a sorbent containing the removed constituent is revivified or regenerated by treating with an oxidizing gas. For such a step, see subclasses 221, 222, or 233.
