DEFINITION

Classification: 418/244

(under subclass 243) Apparatus wherein the abutment is moved in at least one direction by coacting elements one of which has a surface or groove of irregular contour for controlling the movement of another element and the abutment associated therewith.

(1) Note. A mere eccentric, i.e., a circular surface rotating about an offset axis is not a cam under this definition. See subclass 247 for an abutment that is actuated by an eccentric.
