(under subclass 279) Apparatus in which the pump is of the type in which the flow of fluid through the pump is caused to change direction and flow in the opposite direction when the direction of rotation of the pump element or the drive means is reversed and in which the fluid flow control means controls a bypass line or lines, the means being operable to direct fluid from the discharge to the inlet of the pump irrespective of the direction of the fluid flow through the pump.
