DEFINITION
Classification: 417/225
(under the class definition) Apparatus in which there is a source of fluid having an initial pressure or velocity head, and means are provided which utilize the energy of said source fluid to boost the head of a first portion thereof to a higher value, by reducing the head of a second portion of said source fluid.
(1) Note. This definition does not include motor driven pumps which pump from an unconfined body of fluid in which the motor is driven by energy derived from the unconfined body of fluid (e.g., fluid current, tide and wave motor, etc.).
