(e.g.,., a roll or an annulus) has a surface of revolution for contacting the article with the inner or outer side of said surface, the axis of said means being adapted to be obliquely disposed with respect to the longitudinal axis of the article and said means being driven about its axis whereby to cause the article simultaneously to advance and turn about its axis.
