(under the class definition) Subject matter wherein means are provided to discharge from the load path any portion of the load that moves backward by gravity against the intended flow.

This subclass does not include devices in which separation of heavier particles is effected by subjecting the material to a blast of such strength that only the lighter particles are conveyed away.
