DEFINITION

Classification: 405/284

Retaining wall:

(under subclass 272) Method or apparatus wherein the structural support comprises a substantially vertical barrier positioned to prevent earth lying against one side thereof from shifting.

(1) Note. This subclass includes "sea walls" with no wave of flow dissipation feature.

(2) Note. Bridge approaches with abutments comprising a retaining wall type structure (usually a reinforced wall) are generally classified in this subclass.
