(under subclass 708) Subject matter wherein said sensing means includes an electrical circuit having two elements intended to touch one another for completion of the circuit, which two elements are maintained in a separated or open position by the record-medium*, whereby when the record-medium is absent from between the elements, the circuit will be closed.

(1) Note. The platen* itself may include one of the elements of the circuit, and the absence of the record-medium may be indicated by a hole in the record-medium at the location of the electrical element.
