DEFINITION

Classification: 400/595

Including insertion of sheet from front of platen (e.g., for "condensed-billing", via sheet guide, etc.):

(under subclass 578) Subject matter wherein movement of a record-medium* sheet occurs, and wherein a sheet is fed into the typewriter by guiding the leading edge of a sheet directly between the platen* and the print-point* via structure that is positioned between the platen and the typist.

(1) Note. This mode of inserting the sheet is usually for the purpose of facilitating a condensed-billing*-typing operation.

(2) Note. In some typewriters insertion via the front of the platen is facilitated by moving the platen rearwardly to form a larger throat. Subclass 649, which relates to platen movement, should be considered.
