488.~ Key-board including row of keys having different heights

DEFINITION

Classification: 400/488

Key-board including row of keys having different heights:

(under subclass 472) Subject matter wherein significance is attributed to the positioning of the key* elements of a key-board* in accordance with the distances from the topmost surface of each key element to a common base.

(1) Note. In most typewriters, the key elements are arranged in a plurality of rows, each row extending transversely across the front of the key-board and one row of keys higher or lower than another. This arrangement conforms to the design and manufacturing requirements of most of the

industry. In the typewriter of this subclass, the height of one key in a particular row will be different than the height of another key in the same row to conform to the natural shape and reach of the typist's fingers.
