(1) Note. As discussed in the Glossary, section III, a function is an operation other than the impressing of a type-face* against a record-medium* to imprint a character*. The auxiliary mechanism of this subclass therefor causes pressing of, for example, a tabulator key, a backspace key, a line-space* key, etc.
