Fore-and-aft (e.g., for top-strike or bottom-strike typewriter):
(under subclass 264) Subject matter wherein the movement of the platen* during case-shift* is in a direction that extends between the front and rear of the typewriter and substantially parallel to the bottom of the typewriter.
(1) Note. The typewriter of this subclass is usually one wherein the type-face* impacts against the top of the platen or the bottom of the platen.
