(under subclass 251) Subject matter wherein the operation of a case-shift* mechanism to effect the form of a type-face* that is to be impressed against a record-medium* is governed by either (a) an electrical system involving the flow of electrons in a circuit, or (b) a plurality of members having particular index characteristics thereon, which members are moved to a position relative to an arrangement of element(s) within the mechanism where the index characteristics are aligned one with another to enable movement of another component of the mechanism to effect choice of operation or non-operation of the case-shift mechanism.
