(under subclass 223) Subject matter wherein a carriage* is moved in a first direction along a print-line* as character* symbols are imprinted, and the carriage is moved in a second direction opposite to the first direction to begin another print-line, and wherein the ribbon* is moved to the print-point* from a location where the ribbon has been stored on the typewriter, such movement of the ribbon from storage taking place only when the carriage is moved in the second direction.
