(under subclass 223) Subject matter wherein the ribbon* is supplied to the print-point* from a coiled supply of the ribbon so that the supply is depleted while the ribbon is moved in a first direction during imprinting of character* symbols, and wherein provision is made for rapidly moving the ribbon in the opposite direction to replenish the coiled supply, no character symbols being imprinted during such rapid movement.
