DEFINITION

Classification: 338/171

(under subclass 162) Subject matter wherein the contact is composed of two or more separated portions, each portion engaging the resistance element, all portions being slidable as a unit along the resistance element.

(1) Note. Usually the purpose of the plural contact portions is to maintain a more uniform electrical conduction path between the contact arm and the resistance element as the contact slides along the element, as to reduce circuit noise.
