(under the class definition) Subject matter in which the phase of the carrier is shifted among a plurality of discrete angles in accordance with the modulating signal.
(1) Note. Also included here is the case where the phase and amplitude of the carrier are simultaneously shifted among a plurality of discrete angle/magnitude pairs (i.e., QAM).
(2) Note. This subclass includes phase shift keying modulators, or quadrature amplitude modulators, per se. See the SEARCH CLASS notes below for combinations with the subject matter of this subclass.
