(under subclass 1) Subject matter wherein the A.F.S. controlled oscillator includes means for setting the frequency of the generated oscillations to any selected frequency within a predetermined frequency range, means being provided to interrupt or otherwise deactivate the A.F.S. control loop of the controlled oscillator while changing the generated frequency from one value to another so as to prevent the A.F.S. loop from tending to hold the oscillator frequency to its previously set value, that is, the A.F.S. tends to drag.
