DEFINITION

(under the class definition) Subject matter having a rotatable member, such as a gear, which is connected to the electrode so that by controlling the rotation of the rotatable member the feeding of the electrode may be controlled, the rotatable member being held against rotation in the direction of feeding by means of a brake, which may be a gear detent or pawl when the rotatable member is a gear, the electrode being permitted to move in the feeding direction by releasing the gear detent or brake from holding position with respect to the rotatable member.
