DEFINITION

Classification: 30/258

(under subclass 254) Shears in which one blade has a slot into which the other blade moves during the cutting operation. These shears usually cut out a narrow strip of the material.

(1) Note. Where one blade enters a slot in the other blade and wedges the material against the side of the slot for the purpose of gripping it, see this class, subclasses 134+.
