DEFINITION

Classification: 296/26.01

Variable capacity of body:

(under subclass 1.1) Subject matter wherein the interior space or load carrying ability of the land vehicle receptacle or load carrier is altered by changing a physical dimension such as a length, width, or height of the receptacle or load carrier (a) by a movement of a portion of the body to another location relative to the remainder thereof or (b) by adding or removing a portion of the body relative to the receptacle or load carrier.

(1) Note. An actuation and locking device, per se, is not broken out in the variable capacity subclasses below. Vehicles collapsible to non-use position are not considered variable capacity vehicles.
