DEFINITION

Classification: 269/184

(under subclass 172) Device including mutilated portions of one or both of the mating components, which portions, where properly aligned, permit relative axial motion without interengagement of the thread (or helix-like) elements of said mating components.

(1) Note. Generally, a partial rotation of a mating component serves to align mutilated portion, permitting an axial shift of said component (and associated jaw); and a further rotation serves to apply the actuating work gripping force.
